About this event

Act for change – How can the 2022 Mental Health and Wellbeing Act deliver on the vision of the Royal Commission?

We are pleased to invite you to an online panel discussion to help inform the development of the 2022 Mental Health and Wellbeing Act.

The Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System set out a vision for a compassionate and community-focused system, so how will the new Act help achieve this? How will we ensure compulsory treatment is radically reduced and supported decision making is strengthened? Most importantly, how will the vision for a consumer-led system be realised in a systemic and meaningful way?

Panel details

We're delighted that Katherine Whetton, Department of Health Deputy Secretary will open our discussion, followed by a conversation between Chris Maylea, VMIAC Deputy Chair, Maggie Toko, Consumer Leader and Dr Kerryn Rubin, Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists Victoria Branch Deputy Chair, facilitated by Sonia Law, Victoria Legal Aid Mental Health and Disability Advocacy Program Manager.
