As part of UWA Research Week, the Faculty of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences is excited to explore how our cutting-edge research can contribute to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in primary schools.
Please join us for an informative and interactive day of workshops from a diverse range of disciplines. The aim is to provide you with fun, relevant STEM-based activities (at primary school level) that you can take back and implement in the classroom. It will also be a fantastic opportunity to network with like-minded educators from across WA.
Schedule
Registrations on the day will open from 9.00am (tea/coffee provided) for a 9.20am start, followed by a circuit of activities. Lunch and tea/coffee will be provided.
Activity stations will explore the following topics:
- Modelling our future with ocean floor offshore engineering
- Structures big and small
- Big data possibilities - from cosmos to oceans
- Technology tools in biomedical engineering and robotics
- Switching kids onto Einsteinian Physics at an early age
- Electric motors and renewable energy vehicles
- Coding in the classroom
