About this event

UQ & Walkley Journalism Masterclass: Investigative Journalism(In-Person)

UNESCO Chair in Journalism and Communication Professor Peter Greste, The Walkley Foundation and The University of Queensland's School of Communication and Arts are excited to announce the final session in a series of practically-focused journalism masterclasses for UQ students.

Investigative reporting takes on an extra layer of complexity when you’re presenting it on television, such as getting people to talk on camera and illustrating intricate documents. Gold Walkley-winning journalist Mark Willacy will provide insights into the stories behind his investigations, including building trust with vulnerable sources, navigating documentary evidence, ethics and security.

Mark Willacy is a reporter for ABC Investigations, based in Brisbane. A former Middle East and North Asia correspondent, Mark has reported for the ABC in more than 30 countries. He's a seven-time Walkley Award winner, and has been awarded Australia's highest honour in journalism — the Gold Walkley. He's twice been named Queensland Journalist of the Year.
