Are you an international student based in Brisbane over the Winter Break? Then the UQ International Student Careers Boot Camp is for you!

About this event

Due to public health concerns around COVID-19, the UQ International Student Careers Boot Camp is moving online. The University of Queensland prioritises the health, safety and wellbeing of our people above all else.

The Careers Boot Camp scheduled for Monday 5 June and Tuesday 6 June will now be held online via Zoom with the revised program outlined below:

  • Day One - Monday, 5 July, 10 am - 3:30 pm
  • Day Two - Tuesday, 6 July, 10 am - 3:30 pm

Join us for an exclusive intensive program of interactive workshops and industry panel events specially designed to increase your employability within Australia. Make connections with other students and practice the skills required to give you a competitive edge in the job market. All participants will get an exclusive certificate for their attendance.

Day One Activities

  • Career planning for international students
  • How and where to find jobs to apply for
  • BYO lunch and social chats
  • Establishing and maintaining networks in Australia
  • Developing your professional presence online
  • Industry insights: International Student Alumni Panel Event and Q&A session

Our panel for day one :

  • Vanessa Chan - Manager, Infrastructure Advisory at PwC, previously completed a Master of Commerce (Professional Accounting and Applied Finance) and Bachelor of Architectural Design at UQ
  • Shreyas Shet - System and Project Support Officer at UQ, previously completed a Master of Computer Science (Management) at UQ
  • Ingrid Valladares - Account Officer at the Australian Institute of International Affairs and PhD Candidate , previously completed a Master of International Relations at UQ
  • Melissa George -Consulting Veterinarian and Research Scientist  at Bovine Dynamics , Previously Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) at UQ.

  • Industry insights: Recruiter & Hiring Manager Panel and Q&A session
  • Understand the Australian job market and recruitment process
