UPSKILLING FOR COMMERCIAL PROPERTY MANAGERS

A Full-Day Practical Workshop for Regional Property Professionals

Commercial property management is something many people step into long before they’re given structured training to support it. One day it’s a handful of commercial properties in a mixed portfolio; the next, you’re managing leases, legislation, outgoings, rent reviews, ESM, insurance, options, and make-good obligations, all at once.

This workshop brings clarity to that complexity.

Upskilling for Commercial Property Managers is a full-day, in-person practical workshop delivered by Wendy Thomson (Australian Academy of Property), Sangeeta Thaker (Property Law Academy), and Sonia Hunyadi.

Together, the presenters combine deep hands-on operational experience, specialist property law expertise, and risk-aware communication skills. Participants are guided through real-world scenarios and practical frameworks that support clearer lease interpretation, stronger compliance awareness, better issue escalation, and more confident day-to-day decision-making.

The focus is on how commercial property management actually works in practice. Not theory. Not best-practice slogans. Just the operational detail that keeps portfolios compliant, controlled, and defensible.

Designed specifically for regional & metro practitioners, this workshop reflects the reality of managing mixed portfolios with broader responsibilities and fewer internal safety nets. It provides structure, guidance, and real examples to help commercial property managers reduce uncertainty, manage risk properly, and achieve better outcomes for landlords and tenants.

Additional Session

Minimising Risk in Written Communication

As part of the program, the workshop includes a dedicated session on minimising risk in written communication.

In commercial property management, poorly worded emails, notices, and correspondence can unintentionally create obligations, escalate disputes, or expose agencies and owners to liability. This session focuses on writing with clarity, intent, and authority so communication supports decisions rather than undermines them.

What You’ll Take Away

• Practical tools, checklists, and workflows you can apply immediately
• Clearer understanding of leases, legislation, and common risk areas
• Greater confidence managing landlords, tenants, and issues as they arise
• Stronger discipline in written communication to reduce ambiguity and exposure
• Real scenarios drawn from active commercial property portfolios
• Opportunity to connect with peers facing similar regional challenges

• Residential Property Managers managing commercial assets
