Upper North Pine River eDNA workshop

Pine Rivers Catchment Association

A community workshop to teach you about eDNA, why it's important, how to collect samples, followed by the in-field sampling.

Dayboro Community Hall

Join us for a hands-on workshop led by Wildlife Queensland and learn how environmental DNA (eDNA) is helping us better understand the wildlife living in our local waterways.During the workshop, you'll discover how eDNA works, why it's such a valuable conservation tool, and how you can contribute as a citizen scientist. You'll be guided through the correct techniques for collecting water samples, filtering and preserving them, and preparing them for shipment to the laboratory for analysis.Once we have gone through the theory, we will put it all into action by going into the field and collecting some of these samples. Surveys will be throughout the North Pine River region. No prior experience is needed—just an interest in our local environment and a willingness to get involved. Your participation will help build a long-term picture of the health and biodiversity of our waterways. Afternoon tea will be available for attendeesWhat to bring/wear:

Field appropriate shoes

Field appropriate clothing

Hat

Waterbottle
