Untamed - SPARKE 2026 Teacher Workshops

Orange Regional MuseumOrange, NSW
Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm AEST
Overview

Join us for a free after school workshop for teachers to support you and your students in creating 'Untamed'

Join Museum and Gallery educators who will introduce the exhibition theme, art-making activities and education opportunities for 2026. We'll then guide you through this year's art-making activity, as you make your own artwork.

This workshop is a great opportunity to build confidence in facilitating this activity with your students, as well as a chance to connect with the Museum and Gallery's educators and discover more about the learning opportunities we offer to schools.

Workshop Details

This workshop will be held on Wednesday Monday 6 May from 4.30pm-5.30pm at Orange Regional Museum.

If this workshop time doesn't suit you, please get in touch and we'll collect interest in holding an additional session.

About Untamed

Weeds, introduced, invasive, pest. We have lots of ways to describe wild plants that don’t belong in our environment. What makes a plant a weed and who decides? How can we care for Country and our native species? Is a weed always a bad thing?

We’ll ask these questions and more in our 2026 SPARKE project Untamed. This year students will help create a wild, weedy installation of colour while learning about the impact of weed species in our region and how we can help protect biodiversity close to home.

Artworks will be created in classrooms during Term 2, and then delivered and installed together as part of this exhibition at Orange Regional Museum from 15 August to 25 October 2026.

Additional Information

Contact us at museum@orange.nsw.gov.au or on 02 6393 8444 for more information or if you have any questions.

This workshop is for teachers from SPARKE network schools. If you're a teacher from a different school and are interested in this project, please get in touch with us to discuss options for visiting Untamed (15 August to 25 October 2026) with your class.
