UNSW Physics Bridging Course 2026

Course information

The Physics Bridging Course examines the following topics up to a level where university physics study can commence:

  • SI units
  • Waves
  • Vectors
  • Forces
  • Dynamics
  • Newton’s Laws
  • Energy & Power
  • Electricity
  • Magnetism
  • Electromagnetism

Tuition is entirely online with at-home experiments and no final exam. This course is not intended as a substitute for two years of senior study in the subject.

Who should study the Physics Bridging Course?

  • It is recommended that you have knowledge to the HSC Mathematics level, or equivalent for effective study in the Physics Bridging Course.
  • Students with no prior knowledge of HSC Physics, and who intend on studying physics in the first-year of their degree are encouraged to participate in the Physics Bridging Course.

Hours of Tuition: 40 hours (comprised of online tuition with at-home experiments). See the class schedule here.

Course Fee: $380

Requests for transfers from one Bridging Course to another or withdrawals must be received by the Science Student Centre in writing by email to bridging@unsw.edu.au.

Transfers and withdrawals will incur a $50 administration fee. The cut-off date for withdrawals for all courses with a refund is 5pm Wednesday, 14 January 2026. Refunds are made by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).
