Do you have a broken, or damaged household item? Bring it along to the Unley Repair Cafe and learn how to fix it!
The Unley Repair Cafe is a free monthly event open to everyone, aiming to divert items from landfill, pass on valuable repairing knowledge, and connect community.
Our sessions are attended by local volunteers willing to assist you with the likes of electronic, clothing, shoe, furniture, bike, jewellery, mechanical and general repairs. Keep an eye on our Facebook page to see which volunteers will be coming along to the next session.
Please note:
- we are not a drop-off service - you must be willing to sit with/assist the repairer and learn how to fix your item.
- one item at a time per person, to allow everyone the opportunity to participate. If you have more than one item you may re-join the queue after your first item has been attended to.
- last repairs at 12noon, or earlier if we are very busy! Our session ends at 12.30pm sharp, so please arrive well before this to enable enough time for repairs.
- we will have a large range of tools and equipment needed to make repairs, but we do not keep a stock of spare parts. We will have bits and pieces (screws, buttons, etc), but if your repair requires a specific spare part, please purchase before the session. If you are not sure, you are welcome to bring your item along for diagnosis to determine what part you need before the next session.
- your item must be small enough to carry through the doors - we are unable to assist with whitegoods, microwaves, or vehicle repairs.
- the repair cafe aims to save broken items from landfill, especially those that may not ordinarily be cost-effective to repair in comparison to the price to purchase a replacement. Our volunteers are not available to assist with clothing alterations or general upcycling, however may be able to assist with advice on local businesses or groups that can help, or where appropriate, you may be able to use our tools/equipment to DIY.
N o bookings or tickets necessary, just come along to the Main Hall at the Clarence Park Community Centre on the last Saturday of the month between 9.30am and 12 noon!
