About this event
Melbourne lifts one of the world’s longest lockdowns, It’s time for us to spread joy in person!
Since August, The Joyful School and their Joyful students have been showing up online every Saturday online. Even apart, we managed to build a community that supports each other and witness each other progress.
The Joyful School will be in Edinburgh Gardens every Saturday at 9:30 a.m., ready to unleash our creative energies!
The Joyful School helps you to develop your acting skills, your body awareness, and build a creative routine through improvisation and physical theater training. We teach with joy, curiosity, and authenticity.
We will gather at the playground picnic tables a 9:25 a.m.
The Joyful School provide also one-to-one live coaching on daily basis, for a week, a month or even a term! check the website to know more:
See you on Saturday!
About your coach, the founder of The Joyful School :
Hi, my name is Pauline. I created The Joyful School to teach what I love, the way I love to teach it. I’m passionate about the connection between physical theater, creativity, and self-development. I love developing my body awareness and using it as a source of inspiration for my creative writing and performing. With The Joyful School, I want to help you develop your acting skills, your body awareness, and your creativity through improvisation and physical theater training. Most of all, I want to help you believe in what you do, reinforce your self-confidence, and feel strong enough to share your creations with the world. In the end, if I do my job well, you won’t need my help anymore…
I am an international teacher, performer and director from France. I have performed in 150+ professional theatre shows (Improvisation, clown, mask, contemporary and classical). From 2013 to 2018 I performed in the successful long-form improv show Le Fauteuil with the company Smoking Sofa. I performed as a clown and physical actress in Requiem for 3 years (2015 to 2017). In 2016, I created and directed Le Fauteuil d’orchestre, a musical and improvised show. I taught, directed and performed improv in 15 festivals (NZ Improv Festival 2017, Improvention 2017, Nelson Fringe Festival 2018, Slovenia Kamfest, and festivals in France). I studied acting for two years at Armel Veilhan’s theatre school in Paris. From 2015, I am mentored by the clown-acrobat Ira Seidenstein (Slava SnowShow, Cirque du soleil, International School for Acting And Creativity in Brisbane). In 2019 I become an official associate of I.S.A.A.C. In France, I am supported by the company Trance Mask France. Unleash The Beast is my third solo show, after two written ones. After a season in Paris, July 2019, I performed Unleash the Beast at The Butterfly Club, Melbourne in March 2020 just before the lockdown.
