Understanding your Numbers with Financial Coach Amy Bajada
Let's break down which numbers matter, in a way that actually makes sense for smarter, more deliberate decisions.
Workshop 1: Understanding Your Numbers with Financial Coach Amy Bajada
In 2026, the City of Whittlesea, a Business Friendly Council, is bringing a four-part series of financial workshops exclusive to Whittlesea Business Network members.
The first workshop, Understanding your numbers, has been designed for local business by a local business. If your business is up and running, but the numbers still feel a little confusing, this workshop is for you.
We’ll break down which numbers matter, where to find them (like your Profit & Loss, balance sheet, and cash flow), in a way that actually makes sense—so you can make smarter, more deliberate decisions around growth, and profitability.
Understanding your numbers is a practical, two-hour workshop designed specifically for business owners who want to build financial stability and avoid common pitfalls.
Participants will walk away with:
- Monthly report reading habits
- Identifying trends in revenue and costs
- Understanding assets, liabilities & equity
- Spotting red flags early.
Plus we'll discuss the different accounting software available such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and the tried and tested Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
You will build a simple P&L using your own numbers - for a business owner, not an accountant!
The four-part City of Whittlesea Finance Workshop series includes:
- Understanding your numbers - Wed 25 February
(this workshop) - Cashflow confidence - Wed 25 March
