Understanding Inclusion and Advocacy (Cairns)
Do you care for someone who faces barriers to participating in society? Let's discuss how you can make a difference!
The ability to participate and be free from discrimination and disadvantage is not just a good idea; it is a basic human right that we all share. We all want to feel included.
As carers, we may find ourselves in situations where we need to speak up about how someone is being treated, whether it be the person we support, others in similar situations, or ourselves. You might also face stigma – limiting beliefs and attitudes about your caring role because other people’s life experiences may be very different from yours.
Join us for this one-day event where we will use a coaching framework and group discussion to gently explore what makes a space inclusive, how you might develop your skills as an effective advocate, and how we may overcome stigma when we meet it. You will also have the opportunity to meet and connect with other people who understand the joys and challenges of being in a caregiving role.
Lunch and light refreshments will be provided. Please include details of any food allergies or other special dietary requirements with your RSVP.
If you are having trouble registering for our event, please contact us on 1800 422 737.
Please note: Participants must be registered with Carer Gateway to be eligible to attend (we can assist with new registrations for eligible participants).
