Understanding Elders Rights

Blue Mountains Collaborative on Elder Abuse

June 15 marks the annual, internationally recognised World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD).
On Friday June 14, The Blue Mountains Elder Abuse Collaborative is proud to host a discussion panel and video presentation to acknowledge this important day by celebrating positive ageing in our community. This is an opportunity to understand your rights and participate in an interactive discussion around ways to keep yourself, friends, carers and members of your community safe and connected.
There will be a screening of the video ‘Piano Forte’ which is a community education program dealing with the issue of elder financial abuse. Following this presentation there will be a Q&A with a range of guest speakers from a variety of relevant services talking about Elder Abuse issues and strategies for seeking support.
Blue Mountains Ambassador on Elder Abuse, Julie McGregor will be joining us at this event.
A free delicious lunch will be available for all who attend. An information bag of useful resources will be available on the day.
