Understanding Aged-Care | An information event for seniors and carers

This event is taking place in SPRINGWOOD. If you'd prefer to attend our Katoomba event, please click here.

As part of the Seniors' Festival 2026 Blue Mountains Library is proud to present two free community events designed to help seniors, carers, and loved ones better understand Australia’s aged-care system and how it works. With significant updates to aged-care arrangements having come into effect at the end of 2025, these events will provide clear, practical guidance to help people make informed decisions with confidence.

The sessions will cover both in-home care and residential care options, explaining where to start on your aged-care journey, how to register for services, what support is available and how to access it, and what the recent changes mean for individuals and families.

Attendees will be introduced to experts in the aged-care field, who will simplify the updated system, break down complex processes, and share insights drawn from real-world experience.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions in an open Q&A, enjoy complimentary morning tea, and take home useful literature from the various organisations involved. There will also be time to chat one-on-one with representatives from aged-care service providers and support organisations, making it easier to connect directly with the right people for individual needs.

The events are identical so please choose the location that suits you best.

• Katoomba Library/Cultural Centre – 12 March, 10.30am to Midday

• Springwood Library/Hub – 19 March, 10.30am to Midday

You can contact Blue Mountains Library on 02 4780 5750 or 02 4780 5040.
