Event description

The QBE Sydney Swans Academy is holding Open Athlete Assessment Trials for girls aged 11 and 12 years of age. Following the assessment, players will have the opportunity to be selected for the inaugural Youth Girls program, which will commence in March, 2018. Players must be born in 2005/2006 to be eligible to participate.

Due to the high demand, we will be running the trials over two nights:

U11s - Monday September 11

U12s - Tuesday September 12

The assessment will run from 5pm - 7pm on both nights.

Registrations close Monday August 28 and are subject to capacity.

What is the registration fee for the event?

There are no registration fees for the trials, it's a free event!

Do I have to register online?

Yes, all girls must register online using this website if they wish to participate in the event. Players are not permitted to turn up on the day if they haven't registered.

Do I need to reside in the Swans Academy zone to participate in the trials?

No, players who reside outside the Swans Academy zone can participate in the event. However, players who reside outside the Swans Academy zone cannot be selected for the Swans Academy program.

How do I know whether I reside in the Swans Academy zone?

Academy zones in NSW are based on Local Government Areas. A list of LGAs aligned with the Swans Academy can be accessed here. The updated zone surrounding the Hills District can be accessed here.

Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Players must be turning a minimum of 11 years of age in 2017 to participate in the event.

Will there be trials held for girls in other age groups?

At this stage, there will be only trials held for U11 and U12 girls. Players in younger age groups will need to wait until they are 11 years to trial and those in the U13+ age groups may have the opportunity to participate in the AFL NSW/ACT Female Talent Program.

I can't attend the trial date. Is it possible to trial on another date?

There are no opportunities for further trials in 2017 if you are unable to attend the scheduled date for the trials.

What are my parking/transport options for getting to and from the event?

There is two hours free parking in the Entertainment Quarter carpark, which is accessed via Lang Rd, Moore Park. Alternatively, there is limited metered parking along Driver Avenue.

The closest train station is Central and the closet bus stop is located near Sydney Boys High School along Anzac Parade.

When do I find out if a player has been selected for the Academy program?

Players will receive a feedback report one month after the trials, which will state whether they have been selected for the 2018 Academy program.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Please email or call (02) 9339 9150.
