Attend: 3 Course meal, drinks package included and an exciting mix of a live auction, silent auction, and raffle draws throughout the evening, featuring incredible prizes generously donated by our community. This is an over 16 year old event.

Join us for an unforgettable night of purpose and fundraising at the 2026 Type 1 Diabetes Enlight Gala. In 2024, our community came together and raised $196,000 to accelerate Type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. In 2026, we’re aiming even higher bringing Canberra together to fund life changing breakthroughs and shine a light on the T1D community.
Type 1 diabetes is a lifelong autoimmune condition in which the body stops producing insulin, a hormone essential for regulating blood sugar levels. It is not caused by lifestyle or diet and is often diagnosed in childhood, though it can occur at any age. People living with type 1 diabetes must constantly balance insulin, food, activity, and blood glucose levels decisions that are made 24 hours a day, every day. While advances in technology and research have improved management, there is currently no cure, and the condition places a significant physical, emotional, and mental burden on individuals and their families. There are over 2,000 people in Canberra living with Type 1 diabetes, including many children and families. Managing this condition requires constant vigilance and can take a real mental and emotional toll. Our Gala brings together families, supporters, and local businesses who share the belief that, together, we can make life easier and bring hope to those affected.

Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) funds world-leading research to cure, prevent, and treat Type 1 diabetes. Their goal is to better the lives of those living with Type 1 Diabetes. Every ticket, table, and donation helps towards research, better treatments, awareness and ultimately, a cure.
