Description

This workshop is designed for all practice staff (including nurses) to assist them to gain the knowledge and confidence they need to safely undertake the prioritisation and triage roles, which are a growing part of the everyday process of managing patient demand.

Simon Gould, from Medics for Life, is a leading expert in triage systems and processes and will run this 2hr workshop, to help give practice staff the information and skills to make a real difference in their practice.

Participants will…

  • Review the current 4th Edition RACGP general practice standards in relation to reception and nursing responsibilities in managing requests for care. What the new requirements for accreditation, including training in triage and a system are for establishing and managing urgency.
  • Understand how to identify and manage higher-risk patients in general practice.
  • Be aware of the medico-legal issues in relation to allocation of appointments.
  • Develop prioritisation/triage skills to safely manage requests for care by phone or presentation to the practice.
  • Have an understanding of the range of prioritisation/triage tools available for general practice and their use.
