Trans and gender diverse inclusive practice

About this event
Women's Health in the South East (WHISE), in partnership with Thorne Harbour Health is pleased to offer a free, online capacity-building session to healthcare and community service professionals, to increase workforce capacity to create culturally appropriate and inclusive services for trans and gender diverse clients and consumers.
We encourage all healthcare and community service staff to attend, including, but not limited to:
- General practitioners;
- Nurses;
- Practice managers;
- Other Allied Health Professionals;
- Youth Service workers
- Maternal and Child Health staff;
- Professionals in the primary prevention of gendered and intimate partner violence;
- Family violence response services and others.
The learning outcomes for this session are to:
- Increase understanding of trans and gender diverse health and wellbeing.
- Increase understanding of the importance and use of appropriate language.
- Increase understanding of the impact of discrimination on trans and gender diverse people.
- Increase understanding of, and ability to apply the legislative and legal requirements to respect and recognise gender identity.
- Increase confidence in developing and implementing trans and gender diverse policy and practice recommendations.
- Increase capacity to develop and implement strategies to create cultural safety for trans and gender diverse consumers.
Please note we also have a free, online session on LGBTIQ+ cultural sensitivity and awareness available on Thursday 12 May 6:30 - 8:30pm. This session will be focused on is focused increasing participants' understanding of the social determinants of LGBTIQ+ health and wellbeing outcomes, improving participants' understanding in meeting the needs of LGBTIQ+ consumers and creating an affirming and inclusive service environment.
