Traditional Music & Dance of Japan for Harmony Week @ Dordaak Kepup Library
A Harmony Week Event
Come along and listen to Sanshi play the shinobue and taiko. Shinobue is a Japanese side-blown bamboo flute that has a high-pitched but melodic sound. Traditionally shinobue plays an important part in the music festivals, folksongs, Shinto ritual and theatre performances of kabuki. The taiko or drum has been part of Japanese culture for centuries. When hit hard with bachi, taiko can produce sounds topping 130 decibels, a sound level on par with a jet plane! Sanshi will also guide you through some songs, moves and dances.
Target audience: all ages
Venue: Booyi room, Dordaak Kepup Library & Youth Innovation Hub
FREE: bookings essential
Please cancel your tickets or advise one of our team if your plans change and you are unable to attend this event.
