Traces of the Landscape: Nature Journalling & Mixed Media Layers

Sophie Chauncy is a mixed-media artist based in the Riverina, known for her nature-driven practice exploring local waterways, plant life, and rural ecologies. Sophie regularly runs creative workshops across the region and has exhibited widely, including at Wagga Wagga Art Gallery and Griffith Regional Art Gallery.
You will join Sophie in Narrandera as she delivers a relaxed and inspiring workshop across two evening sessions. You will explore nature-based journalling using layered mixed-media techniques inspired by local river systems, plant life and natural textures.
You will learn how to:
- Observe and gather inspiration from the natural environment
- Build layered journal pages using ink, watercolour, graphite, charcoal, and simple mark-making tools
- Incorporate natural materials (leaves, feathers, sticks) as stencils or drawing tools
- Develop confidence in expressing ideas visually in a journal
- Create several completed journal spreads across the two evenings
The workshops are relaxed, accessible, and suitable for beginners through to more experienced makers.
The workshop is for adults
When
- Thursday 12 March 6-8pm AND
- Thursday 19 March 6-8pm
The workshop is progressive over 2 sessions and you need to be able to attend both sessions. Ticket price includes both sessions
The workshop will commence at 6pm and run over 2 hours over 2 weeks so be sure to be on time.
What will be supplied:
- An art journal
- Use of a variety of media, including paints, pastels, inks and natural materials
- Access to a variety of examples and resources
- Tea, coffee and treats
This workshop is limited to 15 participants only AND you must be able to attend both sessions.
