Location

St Lucia campus and online

The University of Queensland Saint Lucia, QLD 4072 Australia

About this event

These mega events include the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Basketball Women’s World Championships 2025, the Rugby World Cup 2027, and will culminate in the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics Games.

These events require independent expertise to inform government and industry on event legacy planning and implementation, sports technology, high performance sport, sports science, sports leadership, management and governance, urban design, sustainability, transport, sports infrastructure, sustainable materials and smart stadia, urban planning and socio-cultural impact and outcomes.

What role can UQ play in collaborating to underpin this legacy through independent research and education and training?

Hear about UQ plans to bring together a multidisciplinary research network from across the university that will act as an entry point for our external stakeholders.

We have assembled a panel of speakers, notably

to provide their views on how this golden era for sporting mega events will impact their sector and where the major opportunities for research and education might sit in the short and long term.

The aims of the seminar are to

1. Bring together UQ sports research ecosystem and influencers

2. Demonstrate external needs for sports-focussed research and education, and

3. Announce and explain the UQ Sports network concept and seek feedback and support.

This event will be held at UQ St Lucia campus and online. Please select the type of ticket corresponding to your attendance.

Light refreshments will be available from 11:40am for in-person attendees.

For more information about this seminar, please contact research-admin@hmns.uq.edu.au.
