Dear VET coordinators, career practitioners and teachers for the tourism and hospitality industry,

Tourism Western Australia is committed to raising the profile of the tourism and hospitality industry as a positive career of choice for students (our future industry leaders) to drive the sustained positive growth of Western Australia’s visitor economy.

This is an opportunity to present you with our new tools and resources, and information on our school programs to support you in your role.

This half-day professional development event will include a formal presentation, followed by a tourism and hospitality career taster activation, before concluding back in the function room with lunch and networking.

Frequently asked questions

How many teachers per school can attend?

We want to share our resources with as many schools as possible. There is a maximum of two teachers attending per school. Please note priority will be given to teachers and career practitioners in schools who offer tourism and hospitality course offerings. The online attendance is not capped.

How long does the online presentation go for?

The professional development formal presentation will be live streamed from 9am - 10:30am on Friday 24 May 2024. During this time, you will be able to ask any questions using our event Slido link. There is no limit as to the number of teachers per school joining online.

I am based outside the metro area, how can I find out about the resources available?

You are in luck! We will be hosting an online stream, please select that option on the registration form. Please feel free to email workforce@westernaustralia.com if you have any queries and would like copies of the Careers Guide which can also be viewed on westernaustralia.jobs

What if I can no longer attend in person?

Please advise workforce@westernaustralia.com as soon as you are aware that you can no longer attend, while we will miss having you join us, we would happily welcome a representative from your school or offer your spot to an educator on our waitlist.

What do I need to bring along with me on the day?

Please wear sensible shoes for the tourism and hospitality activations. Some activations may require a little bit of walking at a leisurely pace. We will be providing sunscreen and bottled water. Laptops will not be required.

How do I get to the venue?

Public transport is a great way to get to Fremantle. Please note there will be no free or reserved parking for attendees. Please check any signage carefully if you do choose to park in the City of Fremantle.

How long does the event go for?

The event will finish at 1:30pm. If you do need to leave earlier that is okay, please advise workforce@westernaustralia.com.
