Event description

Description

Destination Cellars invites you to a very special evening with two of Scotland's small scale "Indie" distilleries that are very hard to find yet produce malts of the highest quality. It will be held in our upstairs Dram Room on Tuesday evening May 29th from 6.30pm.

Glencadam first opened in 1825, in the ancient city of Brechin. This was the year that the first horse-drawn omnibuses were established in London, the world's first modern railway opened, with the first public train pulled by steam engine, Cox's Orange Pippin apples were first grown and London became the largest city in the world, over-taking Beijing. It was little more than one year after the Excise Act of 1823 legalised distilling. Glencadam is now the only distillery in the county of Angus, an area of the Highlands region of Scotland. From the delicate 10 Year Old to the exceptional Aged 15 & 21 years, we will taste these superb multi award-winning expressions from one of Scotland's oldest distilleries.

Tomintoul Distillery was built in 1964 and uses traditional techniques that stretch back hundreds of years to make theirr award-winning single malt, “the gentle dram”.Situated on the banks of the Spey’s main tributary, the Avon and taking its name from Scotland’s highest village nearby, Tomintoul is a distillery that has only recently been more widely seen as single malt.

We will sample the following on the night:

Tomintoul Aged 16 Years - Gold Medal winner at the International Wine & Spirits Competition
Tomintoul Aged 12 Years Oloroso Sherry Finish - 95.5 point review in Jim Murray's 2010 Whisky Bible
Glencadam Aged 10 Years - Silver Medal, International Wine & Spirit Competition London – 2010
Glencadam Aged 15 Years Old - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2014 score: 90.5 points
Glencadam Aged 21 Years - 94 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2014 & 'Gold' - The Scotch Whisky Masters 2013.
Old Ballantruan Aged 10 Years - 50% ABV First Edition Peated

Tickets are $40 per person and must be booked in advance as seating is limited.
