Event description
A two-part workshop exploring how and why people react differently to change and how to manage yourself through change in the workplace.

About this Event

Please note: this event is run by the Small Business Development Corporation for small business owners in Western Australia only.

Change can create disruption and uncertainty in a workplace and how to best navigate that process is a valuable skill for small business owners.

This topic is split into two sessions on separate days and your registration covers both sessions.

This topic covers:

Understanding yours, and other people's reaction when work changes:

  • Understanding how and why everyone perceives change differently;
  • Stress triggers and creating your own context for when things change;
  • Loss of Control and understanding what you can and can't influence;
  • Change as journey to a new comfort zone;
  • Assess your level of coping, are you at survival, coping or thriving.

Managing yourself through workplace change:

  • Deciding to change habits and how to change your habits;
  • Your personal perquisites for commitment to change;
  • Why we resist change, even when we know we it is good;
  • Riding the Change Curve and how it affects your emotions;
  • Activities and tools to help you transition from one comfort zone to another.

The facilitator for this topic, Belmont Business Enterprise Centre, is a not-for-profit community based organisation established in 1994 to assist in the growth and development of small business. The presenter of this topic is a small business operator providing digital support to small business operators and their staff.

This session is presented by the SBDC, the only agency in the Western Australian Government dedicated to helping small business. In fact, we've been providing practical support to small business owners for more than 30 years.

Important booking information

You are limited to two tickets per booking (you can of course make more than one booking).

We will be emailing you with important information on how to find workshop locations and what you need to bring, if it is a face-to-face event. If you are attending an online workshop you will receive instructions and a link on how to join and important information to ensure your device is suitable. Therefore, if you are booking for more than one person, please ensure you provide each person's email address.

To book for larger groups, please contact us on 133 140.

You can cancel your booking up to 24 hours before the workshop starts. Even for free sessions we would appreciate you cancelling if you cannot attend so another small business owner can take your place. For paid sessions, no refunds will be issued within 24 hours of the scheduled start time.

Additional information for online workshop sessions

Please check your computer's suitability for online workshops, including its sound quality, browser, internet bandwidth and speed and video plugins (if required) before the start of the online workshop session. Camera and microphone capabilities are recommended to interact with online workshops.

Our online workshops are run as live, interactive sessions, similar to the format of our face-to-face sessions. For this reason, there is a limited number of tickets per session so our presenters can adequately interact with, and respond to, attendees. Recordings of these live sessions are not available if you do not attend the live event time.

Additional information for face-to-face workshop sessions

No, you don't need to bring your printed ticket.

We value inclusion for clients requiring disability access and our workshops are delivered in a variety of buildings and locations. If you would like further information about accessing a particular workshop please use the contact button at the end of this page to send us your query.
