Thread Drawing Workshop

Learn the exciting technique of thread drawing using freemotion machine embroidery! 

Spend a day in Juliet's workshop discovering how to use your basic home sewing machine to create your very own thread drawings.

Juliet will carefully guide you through every step of this fun and creative technique through demonstrations, tuition and practical support.  No experience necessary. Complete beginners are very welcome as are more experienced artists and sewers. Small class size ensures that Juliet can support your learning at any stage of your thread drawing journey.

For those that need it, we will cover the basics of freemotion embroidery including how to prepare your machine to free sew, how to transfer your designs to fabric and draw with the machine. Techniques for adding layers of details to your designs with threads and fabrics will be presented . Once the basics have been covered you will be guided and supported to work on a project of your choice. Select a project to work on from provided images and resources or bring your own ideas if you prefer. 

There will be plenty of opportunity for practice, trouble shooting, skill building and experimentation! 

All equipment and materials provided but you are welcome to bring your own sewing machineI with a darning/embroidery foot.

Please note numbers in this workshop will be strictly limited to ensure individual attention

Morning and Afternoon Tea provided. Please let Juliet know of any dietary requirements. There will be a lunch break and a number of local options for dining/takeaway including our onsite coffee van.

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Le Studio is located about 15 mins by foot from Mordialloc Main Street and train station. 

There is plenty of parking on Crown Avenue.

 What can I bring into the event?

You may bring your own sewing machine if you prefer.Please make sure you have an embroidery/darning foot that is suitable for the machine (usually not provided with the machine). Machines set up for freehand machine embroidery will be available for all.

You might like to also bring your own sewing equipment such as embroidery hoops, scissors, pins, threads and fabric scraps although these will all be provided.

Please feel free to bring your own designs/images/ideas to work on. Juliet will also provide these.
