Description

Make your data work for you!

Learn how to make the most of your organisation’s data and maximise effectiveness at our next Philanthropy Australia National Thought Leadership Roadshow.

This year we are proud to present world leading experts on data evaluation, Julia Coffman and Tanya Beer of Washington D.C’s Center for Evaluation Innovation (CEI).

The CEI is a world leading non-profit that works with philanthropic foundations and other evaluators to advance the practice of evaluation. They specialise in areas that are challenging to assess, such as advocacy and systems change.

During this session, Julia and Tanya will pass on practical tips on how your organisation can use evaluative thinking to learn quickly from your work, bringing timely data to the table for reflection and use.

Book now as these sessions are sure to fill fast!

About the CEI

The CEI is building the field of evaluation in areas that are challenging to measure and where traditional program evaluation approaches are not a good fit. CEI specializes in the evaluation of efforts that feature high complexity, such as policy advocacy and systems change and other areas where new thinking and approaches are required.

CEI also leads the Evaluation Roundtable, an informal network of foundation leaders in evaluation and learning that aims to improve evaluative practice in philanthropy. Over the last 20 years, the Roundtable has grown from an initial cohort of about a dozen regular participants to over 100 foundations in the US and Canada.

About the presenters

Julia Coffman is director of CEI and founded the organization in 2009. For 25 years she has worked with dozens of foundations on their approaches to evaluation and has led multiple long-term complex initiative evaluations. Julia has expertise in evaluating advocacy and policy efforts, emphasizing real-time learning that helps organizations to adapt their strategies and continuously improve. For the 15 years prior to founding the Center, she led evaluation efforts at the Harvard Family Research Project, a research and evaluation organization at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Tanya Beer is associate director of CEI. She has deep expertise in developmental evaluation, emergent strategy, strategic learning, systems thinking, and advocacy evaluation. Tanya has a broad range of evaluation experience in the philanthropic, non-profit, and public sectors, and has consulted with numerous foundations on strategy, evaluation, and learning. Prior to joining the Center, she was assistant director of Research, Evaluation, and Strategic Learning at The Colorado Trust, a private health conversion foundation.
