About this event

This play is about Stephanie.
Stephanie works the late shifts at the Speedy Car Rental Call Centre.
Her job is her life.
Her friends are her work friends.
She has a crush on the office cleaner.
But people at work are starting to get sick. A lot of people.

‘This production burrows into what that workplace experience might be like.’ Writer/performer
Jasper says. ‘I play a very nervous woman who falls in love with the office cleaner. While the
themes are big, most people are only dealing with what’s right in front of them. That’s how we
are. In many ways this play is a tragic comedy about love.’

Scenes are in the office pods, bathrooms, living rooms and team meetings. Many acetate
sheets are used. This solo performance guides the audience through an hour-long story of
finding love, telemarketing, cleaning products and standing up for each other in the face of dark
times.

May Jasper (Twelfth Night, The Tempest) wrote Not A Very Good Story in 2013 and has since
performed it in Perth, Adelaide, and Melbourne.
