Them Heavy People - Brown Parents and Kids
Event Information
Event description
Description
Join us at 107 Projects on 24 April at 6:30pm, for Them Heavy People, a night of intimate storytelling and some delicious South Asian food.
On the night, we bring together four storytellers to each tell a true story of their own. Our favourite aunties 2 Boys In Saris will serve up some hearty tongue inspiring south Asian cuisine.
Them Heavy People is about sharing migrant stories, it's about us, by us, for us. A night to connect, rejoice and lament at our complex brown/black/asian diasporic lives.
The first edition is parenting and childing. How is it like being a brown parent in Australia? How was it like growing up a brown kid?
If you are anything like us, you have a lot of skeletons in that family closet. This isn't therapy but the next best thing.
Come along, with friends, bring a date, come on your own, meet some good people.
