The yoga lifestyle and dealing with pain
This free 1.5 hour information session is delivered by Australian School of Meditation and Yoga.
The practice of yoga meditation and yoga breathing can help to draw the mind away from dwelling on the pain. By finding a positive focus, a person is able to rise above the pain and direct their consciousness to more pleasant thoughts. By slowing the breath and relaxing, a person can let go of muscle tension and stop the body’s natural impulse to push pain away. In many cases the pain decreases in intensity and loses its full impact. Through mindfulness, a person can distance themselves from the pain and experience themselves as the observer of the pain, rather than being overwhelmed by the full impact of the pain.
Please note all sessions are held in various City Libraries and from 10am–11.30am.
