About this Event

Information about COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

We are all familiar with the saying: The pen is mightier than the sword. And that may be one reason why so many of us have a strong desire to be published.

It’s often said that everybody has a book in them – the problem for most is that is exactly where it stays! If you believe that this especially applies to you, then let us help you to get it out.

Getting your work published may be easier than you think. There’s never been a better time to become a published author. Perhaps all you need is insider knowledge of how to get a publisher’s attention.

Reid Tracy, President of Hay House Inc., has transformed Hay House into one of the largest independent publishing companies in the world. At the upcoming Writer’s Workshop, Reid will share priceless information on how to launch your career as an author. Reid will be joined by Leon Nacson, Managing Director of Hay House Australia.

A special feature of this workshop will be insights from a number of Hay House authors, including Denise Duffield-Thomas, Rebecca Campbell and Maggie Hamilton.

Denise Duffield-Thomas is a leader in the new wave of online female entrepreneurs. Denise is an award-winning speaker and her books Lucky Bitch and Get Rich, Lucky Bitch! give a fresh and funny roadmap to create an outrageously successful life and business.

Rebecca Campbell is an intuitive spiritual mentor, inspirational speaker, teacher, and author. Drawing on her experience as an award-winning advertising creative director at a Fortune 500 holding company, Rebecca guides individuals to courageously answer the unique callings of their soul so that they can light up the world with their presence.

Maggie Hamilton has held a number of senior roles in publishing. She has worked at houses including Transworld and Random House and she established Allen & Unwin’s Inspired Living imprint. She is a professional member of the Organising Committee for the Federation Australian Women Speak Conference. Maggie has also authored 14 books and in 2015 Maggie joined the Hay House editorial team. In 2019 Maggie published her first Hay House title Inside the Secret Life of Fairies.

This is the perfect opportunity to bring your writing ideas into reality. Advances in technology and changes in the publishing industry have created new opportunities. By taking part in this weekend workshop, you’ll learn what it takes to get a book published. You will also be privy to invaluable insights from within the industry.

At the Writer’s Workshop, you'll learn to:

• organise your thoughts and refine your work

• understand your unique creative process

• set a writing schedule and develop the discipline to stick to it

• develop a compelling book proposal

• attract a publisher’s attention

• maintain determination and focus

• understand the roles of author and publisher

• turn rejection into a positive outcome

• understand the basics of book publishing

• generate publicity and media interest

• use online marketing to successfully launch a book

Don’t miss this opportunity! Every workshop participant will be given the opportunity to submit a proposal and a synopsis of their book before 1st March 2021. Full submission details will be provided during the Writer’s Workshop. The winner will be announced on 1st June 2021.
