The Writers Room Workshop for TAFE Queensland
Develop your screen idea in a real writers’ room. Practical tools, expert feedback and hands-on story work across two intensive days.
The Writers Room is a practical, collaborative two-day screenwriting intensive designed to replicate the energy, rigour and creative problem-solving of a professional writers’ room.
Across Friday 27th and Saturday 28th February, participants will work in-person on their own screen projects, developing ideas, strengthening structure and tackling story problems in a supportive, group-based environment. Your TV, feature or short film project ideas are submitted in advance so the workshop time can be spent doing the work that matters most – testing concepts, sharpening loglines and stress-testing stories through guided discussion and feedback. And don't worry if you don't have a detailed idea - even one sentence is enough to build on!
Led by AACTA and AWGIE-nominated writer-producer Tristram Baumber, the workshop blends creative development with real-world industry insight. You’ll gain practical tools for shaping screen stories, a clearer understanding of pitching and collaboration, and an inside look at how ideas move from page to production.
All experience levels are welcome. Whether you’re just starting out or refining an existing project, the workshop is structured to meet you where you’re at, with hands-on support, clear frameworks and an emphasis on confidence, clarity and momentum.
