The Poetry of Faith, Family and Virtue
Come along to a night poetry as we explore the theme of nation, family and virtue as pillars of the West.
In this event we will explore through art and poetry the theme of nation, family and virtue. Each poem will feature a work of art and some background followed by the work of poetry. There will be 40 minutes of poetry and art followed by a Q and A with the poet.
The poetry you will hear is of the classical tradition with metre and rhyme. There will be no free verse and the themes explored are more external rather than self-centred. The poetry will take you on a journey through the merit of nations, through the importance and love of family, and the virtues of art and morality.
We will revist the story of Pinocchio and the deep symbolism of a boy struggling to become a real boy. We will explore the work of Vincent Van Gogh and explain the ways in which art can move us to tears. There will be poetry about the folly of men as they pursue riches and the pitfalls they face. You will also hear some poetry with Christian themes.
If you are a fan of poetry this will be a unique event that I hope will be uplifting and encouraging for you.
