Step confidently into the boardroom with this highly interactive programme, designed for emerging and aspiring directors as well as current board members seeking a refresher. The workshop explores the roles and responsibilities of board members, covers key fiduciary duties, and provides an overview of the Acts, Regulations, Codes and Policies that apply to organisations governed by a board or committee.

The workshop is ideal for experienced board members seeking a refresher and for new or aspiring board members as an induction. Topics covered include:

Meet the Presenter
Nina Laitala Training Lead, Governance & Community Leadership, Institute of Community Directors

Nina has extensive experience in executive leadership, governance, and community-focused training. In 2016, she joined the Victorian Student Representative Council as a training and project manager and was later appointed CEO, leading the organisation through significant change from an auspice agency to a charitable company limited by guarantee.

She has honed her skills as an executive manager, educator, and advocate, with a strong focus on strategic planning, mentoring, and governance. Nina excels in change management, particularly in bringing diverse stakeholders along for the journey. She is a passionate advocate for ensuring all people have accessible platforms and opportunities to be heard and supported to create positive change.

Nina works with the training team to develop new materials and deliver the full range of ICDA programmes, including the Diploma of Governance.
