GUEST SPEAKER for April is psychologist Kaz from the Hummingbird Centre.

ABlout Kaz: Over 25 years ago she started working with children, families and people of all ages and diverse backgrounds, issues and disorders. She brings with her the collective experience and knowledge of all these people, places and sacred spaces.

Her education began with a Bachelor of Social Science, and additional study including an Advanced Diploma in Leadership and Business Management, Cert IV in Fitness (personal trainer), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Clinical Neuropsychotherapy, EMDR Therapy and Neurofeedback Therapy. Prior to returning to study in 2017, Kaz used her skills in fitness training to support the physical and mental health of older adults in a group setting at, what is now, NovaCare, Swansea. The title of her 2021 honours research was ‘Exploring relationships between group-based physical activity, social networks and loneliness in older adults. In 2022 Kaz graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and is currently an intern, working towards becoming a Registered Psychologist.

As a therapist, she takes a special interest in how trauma affects the brain and body, looking at what can be done to release trauma with the view to healing and living well.
