The Listening Room is a monthly songwriter night in Melbourne designed around one simple idea: music deserves attention.

Hosted at Nighthawks, it offers a stripped-back, distraction-free environment where original songs are heard properly - by both the room and the performer.

This isn’t a typical open mic.

The Listening Room prioritises listening, presence, and respect. There’s no background chatter, no competing noise, and no pressure to perform beyond what the song requires.

For artists, it’s a chance to share work (new or in progress) with an attentive audience.
For listeners, it’s an opportunity to engage closely with original music in an intimate setting.
