Event description

Description

Associate Professor Bradley Turner is a NHMRC-ARC Dementia Research Leadership Fellow and Head of the Motor Neurone Disease Laboratory, here at The Florey. He obtained his PhD at the Florey Institute and undertook postdoctoral training at the University of Oxford in functional genomics before returning to the Florey to establish his independent research group. He has received numerous awards for his inspiring work to stop motor neurone disease and this lecture will give you a chance to learn more about what he is currently working on.

The MND Laboratory at The Florey employs a combination of cell and molecular biology to study the molecular basis of MND using patient stem cell-based models, cell culture and animal models. The team seek to identify and understand the primary mechanisms causing motor neuron disease, while translating their discoveries into relevant therapeutic targets for effective intervention. The team has recently embarked on a world first drug screening program for MND patients which will be the main topic of today's lecture.

Join us to uncover the future of motor neurone disease with Dr Bradley Turner.
