Welcome to The First Act — a new way to experience Sydney's best theatre, and maybe meet someone worth watching it with.

After the success of The First Chapter at the bookshop, we're taking our singles events to the stage. The First Act is a relaxed, social evening for singles who want to get out, connect with new people, and share something genuinely great together.

Some connections become friendships. Some become something more. Either way, you won't be walking into the theatre alone.

The evening includes:

• A welcome drink on arrival to break the ice before we take our seats
• Your Unwritten match based on your pre filled questionnaire
• Tickets to Purpose at STC — the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning play direct from Broadway, making its Australian premiere

About the show — Purpose by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins:

Fresh from Broadway where it swept the 2025 Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Purpose is the most talked-about new play of the year. An influential African American family — politicians, pastors, civil rights leaders — finds their carefully built legacy threatened when the estranged youngest son returns home with an uninvited guest. • This is not a matching event — numbers won't be perfectly equal and that's completely intentional
