Event description

Description

Join us for our final panel discussion for 2018 as part of The Conversations, where we look at the waves of feminism and how they have influenced female theatre makers.

From the Right To Vote to the evolution of Feminist Theatre, to Women’s Liberation Movements to #MeToo and everything in between. We discuss writing and performance that has bought to light the marginalisation of women within patriarchal social and cultural systems. How since the seventies, feminist-theatre makers look to recover and reclaim stories (In The Next Room, or The Vibrator Play) and showcase works of neglected pioneering playwrights such as Oriel Gray (The Torrents).

The panel will be hosted by Black Swan Resident Artist, Katt Osborne (Assistant Director, Xenides), alongside Helen Carroll (Curator and Manager of Wesfarmers Arts), Sukhjit Kaur Khalsa (Actor, Fully Sikh) and Lucy Peach (Songwriter/ Poet).

Don’t forget to make sure you’ve got tickets booked for one of the two shows in the theatre - the hysterical parlour drama In The Next Room, or The Vibrator Play, 7.30pm in the Heath Ledger Theatre or the top dollar musical exposé Xenides, 8pm in the Studio Underground.
