The Edit: FOI Masterclass

The Melbourne Press Club has been a key part of the city’s media community since 1971. We continue to celebrate excellence in Victorian and Australian journalism through a range of events, awards and other initiatives.

Melbourne Press Club

Pondering, puzzled or pained by Freedom of Information requests? The Edit has you covered – we’re hosting a masterclass on FOI with Herald Sun FOI Editor Fiona Hudson.
It will be suitable for all levels of knowledge - so if you’ve never filed a request, don’t be afraid. And likewise if you’re proficient - bring along your curliest questions.
Accessing the documents of governments, ministers and public agencies is a story gravy train and it’s time more of us got on board.
Guest speaker: Fiona Hudson
Fiona Hudson is the Herald Sun's FOI Editor. She has covered a range of roles through a twenty year career at News Corp, including European Bureau Chief, City Editor, and Assistant Editor of the Sunday Herald Sun. Hudson was also heavily involved in the rollout of early iterations of the Sun's iPad app and mobile site.
Date & Time: Monday 1 May 6:30 – 8pm (forum kicks off at 7pm)
Location: Belleville, Globe Alley Melbourne VIC 3000
Price: $15 per person includes a drink and nibbles
Bring a notebook and a pen!
The Edit is open to young and early career journalists, as well as journalism students.
