THE CITY SLICKERS

The City Slickers is a four piece acoustic band, based in Perth, W.A. Each one of these fine players brings a wealth of experience and acoustic flair to a varied and wide range of music genres and styles. Ian Simpson (Slim Dusty’s Travelling Country Band, Flying Emus, Sensitive New Age Cowpersons, Paul Kelly and the Stormwater Boys) is well known in country music circles. Renown as one of Australia's finest banjo players, tune-smith and recording musicians, Ian's vast musical knowledge adds depth and sparkle to the band. Singer/song writer, Wayne Perry (Bluegrass Parkway) has established himself as a fine tenor vocalist in Australian bluegrass music and is the nucleus of the group. Peter Harper (Flash Jack, Mucky Duck, Ten Pound Tourist, The Pioneers and Cahoots) keeps the band together with the acoustic double bass, then round that off with with Adam Gare (Jam Tarts, Paul Kelly’s Uncle Bill, Sensitive New Age Cowpersons) on fiddle, mandolin and vocals you have an acoustic mixture featuring country, bluegrass, acoustic classics from the past and a sprinkle of original material that is a fine tasting recipe sure to satisfy the most demanding of musical palates.

BETTEGA-CULLEN DUO

Bill Cullen started playing, singing and writing a range of acoustic music about 10 years ago. He likes to mix up a variety of musical genres from acoustic mid-century rock, popular hits and soulful ballads, to original compositions on issues he cares about.

Ed Bettega commenced his musical career in the 70s with Perth bands before re-locating to Melbourne and then the Sunshine Coast. He made the switch from electric guitar to acoustic in the 90s and has played in all manner of settings including Big Band, Jazz Trio, Musical Pit Bands and most recently as a solo singer/songwriter. He loves creating solos and arrangements that enhance a song and writing an insightful lyric.

Together Bill and Ed bring a wealth of musical and song-writing talent and we look forward to welcoming them once again to The Bay. You will definitely want to hear more from this talented duo!
