The Australian Industry Group and AustralianSuper invite you to a special webinar to mark the 10-year countdown to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The webinar will focus on the program to prepare the city and the state for this major event and the opportunities for Australian businesses to capitalise on the games before, during and beyond.

The speakers

Mike Kaiser

Mike Kaiser is Director-General of the Queensland Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning. He leads the department which oversees the Queensland Government's agenda to drive economic growth and enhance the state's lifestyle through good infrastructure and planning outcomes. This includes much of the work to ensure the facilities and infrastructure is in place for the Games. Mike has broad experience across the private and public sector, including as chief of staff to premiers in Queensland and New South Wales, Director-General of the Queensland Department of Resources and as a partner with KPMG.

Mike will outline the body of work being undertake by the Queensland Government to stage the games and provide insights into how business can interact with the process.

John Aitken

John Aitken is Managing Director of Inspiring Cities, specialising in economic development of globally competitive cities, inspiring precincts, destinations, tourism and major events. He previously spent almost a decade as CEO of Brisbane’s Economic Development Agency (then known as Brisbane Marketing). John is Chair of OnTalent and sits on the board of the Tourism Transport Forum (TTF) and Millovate.

John will discuss learnings from previous major events, including the G20 world leaders meeting, which Brisbane hosted in 2014. He will focus on the opportunities for Brisbane and South-East Queensland to use the 2032 event to attract investment, establish infrastructure and build awareness of what Queensland, and Australia, has to offer.
