The art of public speaking workshop (City of Yarra)
Free skills training to support not-for-profit groups, community organisations, committees and residents in the City of Yarra.
The art of public speaking
Public speaking is one of the most common fears, but it’s also one of the most powerful tools for creating change. Whether advocating for a cause, motivating a team, or sharing a message with the community, the ability to speak with clarity and purpose is a valuable skill for any leader or change maker.
This session helps participants overcome fear and build confidence in their ability to speak publicly. It focuses on understanding the audience, crafting memorable messages, and using story-telling to inspire and influence. Participants will also explore the psychology behind communication, including bias, resistance to change, and how to adapt messages for different settings.
By the end of the session, participants will be equipped to deliver compelling messages, whether to a room full of people or in a one-on-one conversation, that inform, inspire, and drive action.
Topics include:
- Breaking down the fear of presenting
- The gift of delivering memorable messages
- Understanding audiences
- Understanding bias and its role in decision making
- Different approaches for different messages
- Brainstorming content and preparing a presentation for impact
- Understanding the process of change including barriers and resistance
- Applying the skills to a networking conversation
Who should attend?
