The Art of Clay: Term 1 2026
The Art of Clay | Term 1 | Thursdays 10:30am – 12pm
Our new art classes are designed for people with access needs and focuses on the person and the process of creating. Learn something new each week with rotating materials and mediums to use! Learn new creative skills, while also strengthening fine motor skills and self-expression.
This course is designed for people living with a access needs and their carers, this class is also suitable for seniors and their carers.

Term Dates: Thursdays, 12 February - 2 April 2026 (8 weeks)
Times: 10:30am - 12pm

Weekly Program Outline
Week 1 - Pinch Pots:
Focusing on an introduction to clay and basic hand-building techniques.
Week 2 - Coil Building:
Focusing on constructing forms using rolled coils.
Week 3 - Clay Turtles:
Focusing on themed sculptural creation using hand-building skills.
Week 4 - Decorating & Finishing Clay Works (Weeks 1-3):
Focusing on enhancing completed clay pieces through colour and surface decoration.
Week 5 - Clay Owls:
Focusing on character, form, and expression in clay.
Week 6 - Creating Textures and Patterns:
Focusing on surface exploration.
Week 7 - Functional Clay Object: Cactus Ring Holder:
Focusing on creating a functional yet fun clay object.
Week 8 - Decorating & Finishing Clay Works (Weeks 5–7):
Focusing on Enhancing completed clay pieces through colour and surface decoration.
Elizabeth's weekly program is a flexible framework that may be adapted in response to the needs, interests and abilities of clients attending her workshops.
Conditions: The health and well-being of our community is a top priority for us. FCMG is aware of the on-going health situation, which could lead to the possibility of this program not going ahead. We will notify any registered participants if anything should arise and will issue a refund or a credit.
