The Andrew Jakubowicz Annual Lecture
Event Information
Description
Today’s media environment has meant that a diversity of voices can now be heard and represented, yet to what extent are the nuances within diverse groups heard? Do these diverse voices within different groups remain silenced as they do not fit certain stereotypes? And what has been the role of media in getting these silenced voices heard? This lecture will discuss this in reference to Arab media representations.
This is the inaugural annual public lecture to be held by the UTS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences to honour the legacy and ongoing contribution of Emeritus Professor Andrew Jakubowicz in the Faculty. The lecture will be conducted by Professor Saba Bebawi, Journalism Program at UTS.
Drinks from 5:30 pm for a 6:00 pm start.
