Description
Kagyu Monlam is to spread the seeds of loving kindness and pure motivation, to activate their power, and hence bring about genuine peace, love, happiness and well-being in the world. ~ 17th Gyalwang Karmapa
The Kagyu Monlam is an auspicious Buddhist Prayer Festival which celebrates the interconnectedness of all sentient beings in our world. It is a great occasion when all monastic bodies together with the lay Buddhist communities unite together to pray for world peace, harmony, happiness and the wellbeing of our global community.
This year's festival program includes:
-- Tibetan Buddhist Art/Culture Exhibition featuring Thangkas (hand painted scroll painting), Buddhist copper and bronze statues/artifacts showcasing the unique beauty and intricate skills and workmanship of Tibetan/Indian Himalayan artists.
-- Visiting monastic sangha (monks) from the Indian/Nepalese regions will demonstrate their special talents in the area of Torma art making (Tibetan butter sculptures) and in the creation of sand Mandala.
--Precious Buddhist relics will be display to the general public for viewing and veneration.
-- Marme Monlam [Lamp Prayer] and a wonderful Multicultural Show features songs, dances and artistic and ethnic performances from many cultures.
Join us on this auspicious occasion and let us pray together for world peace!
