The Tech Girls Movement, together with Diverse City Careers, invite you to join in the fun on Superhero Daughter Day!
This event, held during Queensland Woman's Week to celebrate International Women's Day promotes technology as a career path of choice for young females.
We invite Year 1 – 7 girls along with their parents or carers to have fun with their peers, meet some cool female role models in IT and hear from one of Microsoft's star tech girls!
The girls will learn about careers in the industry, participate in creative games, share lunch and create their own Superhero! We will also be launching the new Tech Girls are Superheroes book at the event!
The girls will have the opportunity to explore TouchDevelop- which lets you create apps on virtually any device, even if you have never coded before! All they will need on the day is to bring their own laptop or tablet to access and build an app using the TouchDevelop web application.
All tech girls will also receive a fabulous showbag to takeaway.
Thank you to Microsoft and WiT, our event sponsors!
When & Where
Diverse City Careers
Founded in February 2015 by Gemma Lloyd and Valeria Ignatieva, DCC is a social enterprise helping women pursue rewarding careers, particularly in sectors with high gender inequality rates. Since its conception, DCC has grown rapidly and is now regarded as one of Australia’s leading authorities on gender diversity. The DCC jobs board is Australia’s only exclusive jobs board, meaning employers must be pre-qualified before advertising to ensure they support women’s careers. DCC produces a number of resources on topics such as personal branding, negotiation skills and other areas of professional development.
The organisation also hosts educational events and campaigns in order to raise awareness around gender inequality in Australia. DCC cofounders regularly participate in advocacy events on gender diversity and run community meet-ups and corporate panel sessions along with in-company training. DCC supports a number of industry NFP groups along with donating all proceeds from corporate events to its sister charities.
