Join us at Subiaco Library on the last Friday of the month to learn something new about technology and online safety.
Join us at Subiaco Library for Tech, Tea and Treats; where you can enjoy a cup of tea and some sweet treats, hear an educational talk about a specific tech related topic each month, then stay after the talk where our friendly staff are available to offer some one-on-one tech help for your mobile phone or tablet.
How to spot a scam
Being aware of scams and how they work is one of the important steps towards avoiding them. Each year older Australians lose millions of dollars through scams. While the internet is a wonderful place to explore and connect with others, we cannot always be sure that people are who they say they are. Once you know a scammer's tricks, you're more likely to be able to spot a scam.
The BeConnected talk topics covered include:
- Phishing scams
- Tax and medicare scams
- Friendship and romance scams
- Tech support scams
- How to get help if you suspect you're being scammed
Join this session for a demonstration of how to use these resources, then stay behind afterwards for some one-on-one assistance to get you started on your mobile phone or tablet. For more information check out the Little Book of Scams.
