Teachers Can Code

Teachers Can Code, is a Department of Education initiative to support you as a teacher, to implement the WA Curriculum: Digital Technologies. Our 16 professional learning modules cover all aspects of Digital Technologies, including the key concepts, coding and data analysis skills, projects and assessment.

Module 1 Introduction to the WA Curriculum:

This module is an introduction to the WAC and outlines the key concepts and ideas required to effectively implement the new Digital Technologies curriculum and introduces material freely available for use in the classroom.

• Understanding the difference between the general ICT capability and Digital Technologies
• Hands-on experiences with free, classroom-ready resources that target the curriculum
• A catalogue of resources available to support implementation of the new Digital Technologies curriculum

Module 2 Data Representation and Abstraction:

This module is an introduction to data representation and abstraction and provides a set of free classroom resources and activities to teach these concepts, both in primary and secondary school.

In Teachers Can Code module 2, you will

• Explore how abstraction underpins all other concepts in Digital Technologies, and how we use abstraction all the time
• Understand data representation, and how teachers teach representations everyday
• Representing data as whole numbers and in binary
• Unpack the data representation thread of content descriptions
• Hands-on experiences with free, classroom-ready resources and activities
• Primary teachers looking to improve their understanding of the Digital Technologies curriculum
