About this event

  • 1 hour

For over 20 years Darwin-based artist Aly de Groot has explored the interconnection of diverse natural species – particularly marine creatures – through her multi-disciplinary art practice. Working across weaving, photography, printmaking and installation she explores the underwater world and the environmental challenges it faces today.

In 2023 Aly received a Churchill Fellowship to study endangered weaving and basketry techniques in Europe. Join Aly to hear about the basketry collections she visited, the weaving workshops she attended and the contemporary discoveries she made on her travels and how these might influence her future creative practice.
