Theme of the symposium
Traditionally in the power sector we predicted demand and dispatched generation to meet it. In the future we will increasingly be predicting variable renewable generation and scheduling demand to match it. The purpose of the one-day symposium at VEPC is to explore how flexible demand can be scheduled to meet variable generation.
This seminar at VEPC is the second in a series on this topic, with an earlier seminar in Florence (hosted by the Florence School of Regulation) and a subsequent in San Francisco (hosted by The Brattle Group).
Topics of interest
Participants at this invitation-only symposium are encouraged to describe research, ideas, business models or case studies that can address the basic theme of the symposium. The objective is to share insights and perspectives, network, explore opportunities for potential future collaboration and – for anyone interested – consider contributing a chapter to a forthcoming edited book tentatively to be titled Variable Generation, Flexible Demand. Contribution to the book, however, is optional.
